Summer TBR Wipeout 2016

11

The lovely Olivia over at Candid Cover is hosting the Summer TBR Wipeout! Make sure to visit her blog to see which books she will be reading this summer!

As always, my list of books to-be-read this summer is ridiculously long. I have a horrible tendency of buying new books when I still haven’t read the ones I picked up at my last bookstore trip! I like to support authors by pre-ordering books or purchasing them on release day, but this means that I’m always buying books at a faster rate than I’m reading them. So, that little problem on top of ARCs I’ve requested means I’m constantly behind and have such a hard time deciding what to read next.

With that said, I am hereby banning myself from purchasing, requesting, or otherwise obtaining any books until the end of the summer.

This is going to be SO HARD for me because I seriously cannot drive past a B&N without going in. I bought these books, so I’m excited to finally read them!

Harry Potter & The Cursed Child What do I even need to say? I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for another Harry Potter book and have such high expectations for this book. I CAN’T WAIT to dive back into the magical wizarding world and revisit Harry and his people. I’ve pre-ordered this and plan to read it right away!

Modern Lovers I’ve heard such great things about this one and received it as my June selection from the Book of the Month Club!

Eligible Confession: I’ve never read a Jane Austen book. I’ve tried to read P&P but just wasn’t into it enough to continue. However, I’m totally into this modern re-telling and think I’ll be able to relate so much more!

A Game of Thrones I’m so obsessed with the TV series that I challenged myself to read the whole book series by the end of the year. This is going to be the next book I start. I need to remain in the GoT world while impatiently awaiting season 7!

Come Back to Me I’ve actually had this one shelved for a couple months at this point but really do want to read it. I love the premise of her lover/brother both being deployed and then someone comes to her door to let her know that one has passed away. This sounds like such an emotional and gut-wrenching read, but sometimes you need one of those!

The Square Root of Summer I got this one through #booksfortrade on Twitter and, surprise, surprise, still haven’t read it. It sounds like a great concept and has been reviewed highly, so I’m looking forward to a little fluffier reading.

Shallow Graves I really love creepy or psychologically thrilling books (bonus for mysteries!) and think this will be the perfect addition to the mix of books I have on tap for the summer.

First & Then I’ve seen so many raving reviews about this book that I HAVE to read it. It’s pitched as Pride and Prejudice meets Friday Night Lights, which I am SO HERE FOR.

Well, that’s eight books for six weeks of the challenge, which is A LOT of reading for a busy bee like me. I haven’t been reading nearly as much as I usually do this year, so hopefully this will be a good time to catch up.

I’ll be posting check in posts throughout the challenge to keep you updated! In the meantime, follow along with my progress at my Summer TBR Goodreads shelf.
